An information campaign carried out by the International Labour Organization aimed at promoting the prevention of accidents at work and occupational diseases .
Workplace accidents, occupational diseases, and workplace deaths are still too high worldwide. The goal of this day is precisely to highlight new developments in occupational health and safety to strengthen a national culture of health and safety, "a culture in which the right to a safe and healthy working environment is respected at all levels; in which governments, employers, and workers actively commit to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment through a system that defines everyone's rights, responsibilities, and duties; and in which the principle of prevention is given top priority."
