CUSTOMER NEEDS:

• Ensure safety for labourers working on the submarine cable winder.
• During the pivoting of the cable winder around its own axis, the platform that hosts the labourer in charge of keeping the submarine cable in the right position, lifts up up to 4 m above the ground level, therefore the installation of a lifeline was mandatory. The essential requirement of the latter was that of having a trolley able to rotate along the rail up to 290° on a 20 m perimeter, so as to prevent the user from falling.

OUR SOLUTION: Fall arrest rigid rail

• Due to the peculiarity of the installation, Sicurpal designed and built an ad hoc iron structure composed of three 10-m-long L-sections welded in situ to which the Type D fall arrest rail has been clamped afterwards.
• Moreover, Sicurpal carried out drilling, welding and mounting works in situ.
