Seven thousands squared metres, 1600 glasses, 180 metres of length are some of the interesting numbers of the new Mestre Hospital.

CUSTOMER NEEDS:

• Ensuring safety while maintaining and cleaning external façades (glazed roof and vertical curtain wall) on ropes. Avoiding the risk of falling from height that could occurr in case of accidental opening/breaking of the automated glazed roof.
• Ensuring safety while maintaining and cleaning internal façades and securing workers against falls from walkways installed on the whole glazed roof.
• Need for maintaining big garden tanks placed on terraces. The customer requested a system easy to bypass with a shuttle, in order to allow workers and gardeners to safely work fastened to a 2m long lanyard with no risk of falling.
• Respecting the particular building design using only Stainless Steel products.
• Invisibility of the anchoring system.
• Avoiding welding the system to the structure.

OUR SOLUTION: Igena lifeline and Protecta Ariana

• For what concerns external façades, Sicurpal installed a lifeline on the horizantal surface and several anchor points on the vertical one for curtain walls maintenance.
• To ensure safety while cleaning internal façades, Sicurpal installed an IGENA A20 bypass lifeline close to walkways.
• Since at that time Sicurpal didn’t have neither the rail system, nor a system that allowed workers to bypass intermediate anchors without disconnecting from the cable, “Protecta Ariana” Lifeline System turned out to be the proper solution.
• In order to respect building design, all Stainless Steel devices have been painted with the same white RAL of the builing.
• IGENA A20 bypass lifeline has been installed with special bent support brackets which did not require welding.
